The XL-C4040PDC is a side-mount infrared receiver (phototransistor) in a 4040 package (4.0×4.0×3.5mm), made with a transparent epoxy. It has a side-mount design (light-sensitive surface facing sideways) and is suitable for SMT automated production and reflow soldering. This device is an NPN phototransistor with a peak sensitivity wavelength of 940nm and a spectral response range of 730–1000nm, perfectly matching most infrared emitters (like 940nm). It's ROHS compliant, has a moisture sensitivity level of MSL 3, and is ideal for non-visible light detection applications like light barriers, photoelectric switches, smoke detection, and infrared sensing.
